Laser therapy is a non-invasive, drug-free treatment that improves healing and relieves pain by delivering high power light energy directly into the cells, stimulating the body's metabolic processes at the cellular level, creating an upregulation effect to improve cell function and release endorphins.

Class 4 LASER therapy is proven to be successful in treating the following (backed by research and case studies):

  • Osteoarthritis and DJD

  • Hip and elbow dysplasia

  • Tendonitis and tenosynovitis (tendons)

  • Desmitis (ligaments), cranial cruciate ligament injuries in dogs

  • Wound healing, including traumatic and post-operative

  • Fracture healing

  • Sacroiliac disease/pain

  • Spinal pain and conditions such as kissing spines

  • Muscular pain, trigger points

  • Muscular strains and tears

  • Navicular disease and laminitis

  • Bone spavin

  • Bursitis

  • Deep tissue bruising

  • Oedema/swelling

  • Neurological injury and deficits, including degenerative myelopathy and IVDD in dogs

  • Athletic recovery and performance and reduces risk of muscular injury

As well as providing LASER therapy as an optional part of physiotherapy sessions, I also provide shorter 40- minute sessions which includes LASER therapy to a maximum of 3-4 areas, followed by mobilisations and stretches. No time off is required after treatment, and savings can be made on block bookings, making it a highly convenient part of your rehabilitation programme.

Recommended treatment frequency is completely dependant on the individual presentation and condition treated, as well as the budget available, however recommended doses are: twice weekly appointments for 1-2 weeks, then once weekly for two weeks, then two fortnightly, then once a month maintenance and as then as needed.
